Principal's Message
In 2013, Kyoto was ranked as NO.1 city by the World Tourism Organization because of its rich history in culture, many beautiful scenery, traditional couisine and industries, and good education environment. And students from many countries gather here at Kyoto International Academy to learn.
Our school is located near Kitano Temmangu shrine, where the god of literature and knowledge is enshrined. Just about 10 minutes walk from the school, there is the Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion Temple), where many visitors from inside and outside of Japan come to visit. All the visitors are attracted by the blooming of cherry trees in spring and red leaves in autumn. The surrounding environment is quiet and clean.
Along with the best study environment, our teachers and staffs are also the best helper for your study abroad. They will do anything to help students improve their Japanese skills, and always think positively, be helpful for students, but sometimes be strict. That is our school motto.

| October 1987 | School was founded. Started taking study abroad students. (At that time the office was in Gojokawaramachi) |

| January 1999 | Started "Kotoba classes-language classes" for learning foreign languages. |
| June 2001 | Started cooperating with College of Du Page in USA. |
| January 2002 | Moved to new place which is located next to Kitano Temmangu known as its god of learning. |
| April 2002 | Branch school of KIA was establised in Osaka city. |
| June 2005 | Started the Special Japanese Intensive Course. (one month course) |
| October 2010 | Started to hold the cultural exchange with nonprofit organization (NPO). |

There are staffs who are skilled in English or Chinese, so we can support you with all the information you need about students' life and future plan.
In the common room, there are 3 computers which you can use freely.
Also, we have prepared documents and materials about universities for those who are getting into higher education.
Here in Kyoto, you will have chances to see traditional houses which have
"Tsuboniwa-Japanese spot garden". Tsuboniwa is built to reduce heat in summer. And The green garden will heal your mind.
In the Japanese-style room, you can experience Japanese culture such as Tea ceremony.
Cooking room is used for the sushi-making, Chinse dumpling-making, and so on.
In the class, you can take special subjects as well other than Japanese language classes.
There are study room, so you can do self-study after school.
Dormitories
We will support you everything of your life here in Japan including accomodations.
Students' dormitories are located in 3 to 12 mins away by bicycle from the school, so it is easy to come to school everyday.
All the bed / futon, kitchen goods, equipments which you need for living are ready.
